Ballet
Ballet focuses on developing solid technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body, and use of arms. It is often considered the foundation for all dance styles.

This style focuses on interpretation and musicality. Exercises include ballet and jazz positions, stretching, coordination movements, turns, jumps, and floor work. Rooted in emotion, this dance style takes its inspiration and moods directly from the music.

This class is designed to introduce jazz technique, focusing on basic jazz positions, turns, jumps, and leaps. Students will also learn center and loco motor progressions as well as proper stretching techniques to enhance strength and flexibility.

This is an extension of the first Audition Prep Class while also incorporating technique from ballet and traditional musical theatre dance.
what to wear?
FOR ALL CLASSES:
Make sure you wear athletic clothing that is easy to move in.
Avoid loose fitted clothing, so its easier to see what you are doing for corrections.
It is recommended to wear long pants, as most classes will include floor work.
FOOTWEAR:
JAZZ/AUDITION PREP CLASS: Jazz shoes, or barefoot
TAP: tap shoes or tennis shoes that don’t stick
MUSICAL THEATRE: Jazz shoes, barefoot, or character shoes/laducas
BALLET: ballet shoes or barefoot
CONTEMPORARY: ballet shoes or barefoot

Ariel Ross
Ariel Ross is a professional dance instructor as well as a freelance choreographer for various theatres and arts organizations in Hunt County and the surrounding areas. With over 20 years of training in various styles of dance, she currently works with GTW as choreographer, having recently choreographed their productions of Into the Woods and Romeo & Juliet. She is the chorographer for their upcoming production of 9 to 5: the Musical. She has also choreographed various productions for Greenville Family Theater, Main Street Theatre, Shining Star Productions, Fine Arts on Main, and the Greenville Christian School’s Theatre program. Outside of theatre, she teaches secondary level math as well as dance at both the high school and collegiate levels.
