In our FIFTH season, we're bringing you a year of fantastic stories. From the church potluck murder mystery that you get to solve, to the last show of the year, we're going to take you on a journey. Each show in this season is a fantastic (or fantastical) tale that will keep you glued to your seat. Season tickets are now available, so get one for you and all your friends and join us for a year of adventure on the stage!

Bless His Heart
Performance held at Fletcher Warren Civic Center
Continuing our new tradition of hosting a murder mystery dinner fundraiser each October, this year's show is written by GTW alum Heather McBay. Join us at the potluck supper at the Fourth Baptist Church where Gerald is already face down in the green bean casserole. Clearly it was murder...but why and who did it?
Dress in your Sunday best like we used to do and we'll hand out prizes to the Best Dressed Deacon, Best Dressed Church Lady, and Best Overall Outfit. And don't forget to bring your friends to help you solve the mystery. If you guess the killer, you'll win a pair of tickets to ANY GTW show!
Catering your "potluck" meal is GTW's own Beth Swindell who always makes a fabulous meal. Options will be available for vegetarians and for gluten-free. Menu will be announced soon.
November 13-15 & 20-22
Twelfth Night
Performances held at the Farmer's Market Stage by Dodie's Cajun
Twelfth Night is a fast-paced romantic comedy with several interwoven plots of romance, mistaken identities and practical jokes. Separated from her twin brother Sebastian in a shipwreck, Viola disguises herself as a boy, calls herself Cesario, and becomes a servant to the Duke Orsino. He sends her to woo the Countess Olivia on his behalf, but the Countess falls in love with Cesario. Meanwhile Olivia’s uncle, Sir Toby Belch, gets drunk with his friend Sir Andrew Aguecheek and they play a trick on Malvolio, Olivia’s steward. Eventually Sebastian turns up and causes even more confusion, chaos and comedy.
That's the textbook synopsis, but you know GTW has to take Shakespeare and have a little fun with it. Our version is set in East Texas in the year 3,100...but in the future it's known as Texico. We also love to add a little music to each show (just like Shakespeare did!) and this year we've decided to toss in some original JAZZ tunes for your enjoyment!
This is always a fun ride, so be sure to get tickets early. This year we are charging a small fee for entry to help cover costs.

Misery
Performances held at the Greenville Municipal Auditorium
This psychological thriller based on Stephen King’s novel Misery follows successful romance novelist Paul Sheldon, who is rescued from a car crash and wakes up captive in a secluded home owned by his self-identified “number one fan,” Annie Wilkes. While Paul is convalescing, Annie reads the manuscript of his latest book and becomes enraged when she discovers the author has killed off her favorite character, Misery Chastain. Annie forces Paul to write a new Misery novel and he quickly realizes Annie has no intention of letting him go. The irate Annie has Paul writing as if his life depends on it – and it does.
This play is RATED R for graphic violence, language, and adult themes. If you saw the film, you know what's coming. Be prepared for a psychological thrill ride that will remind you why Stephen King is the master of the macabre.
This is one experience you have to see to believe. Don't miss it.
June 18-20 & 25-27
The Old Man & The Old Moon

The Old Man has kept his post as the sole caretaker of the moon for as long as he (or his wife, the Old Woman) can remember. When she is drawn away by a mysterious melody that sparks memories of their shared past, the Old Man must decide between duty (and routine) and love (and adventure). Luckily for audiences everywhere, he chooses the latter, and what follows is an imaginative sea-faring epic, encompassing apocalyptic storms, civil wars, leviathans of the deep, cantankerous ghosts and the fiercest obstacle of all: change.
This fable is one the entire family will enjoy. It's filled with theatrical moments, live music played by the actors, and a story that will bring a tear to your eye. Mark your calendars for this one, it's going to be one you'll never forget.

Calendar Girls

When Annie's husband John dies of leukemia, she and best friend Chris resolve to raise money for a new settee in the local hospital waiting room. They manage to persuade four fellow Women's Institute members to pose nude with them for an "alternative" calendar, with a little help from hospital porter and amateur photographer Lawrence. The news of the women's charitable venture spreads like wildfire, and hordes of press soon descend on the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. The calendar is a success, but Chris and Annie's friendship is put to the test under the strain of their newfound fame.
Based on the true story of eleven WI members who posed nude for a calendar to raise money for the Leukaemia Research Fund, Calendar Girls opened at the Chichester Festival Theatre and has since become the fastest-selling play in British theatre history.
Rated PG-13 for some adult language and themes. To be clear NO ONE will be nude on stage. Everything will be done tastefully (and hilariously) because this show is a lighthearted, heart-warming comedy that's based on something quite real.
